AirPods Max 2nd-Gen Concept: A Fusion of Design, Comfort, and Innovation Inspired by Vision Pro

The AirPods Max is eagerly anticipated to receive its much-awaited second-generation upgrade. Although rumors suggest that we may not see a new iteration of this product until 2024 or 2025, designer Parker Ortolani has come up with an intriguing concept that envisions how Apple’s premium headphones could take inspiration from the recently unveiled Vision Pro, Apple’s first spatial computer.

What makes this concept fascinating is the reciprocal influence between the two devices. While the Apple Vision Pro already exhibits design elements reminiscent of the AirPods Max, such as the elegant mesh headband, comfortable ear cushions, and a sophisticated combination of aluminum and stainless steel finishes, Ortolani’s concept flips the narrative, imagining how the AirPods Max could draw inspiration from the Vision Pro.

This creative reinterpretation offers a fresh perspective, sparking curiosity and speculation among enthusiasts. It’s exciting to envision how future iterations of the AirPods Max could benefit from the cutting-edge design language and innovative features introduced in the Vision Pro.

Ortolani’s concept envisions an enhanced AirPods Max design that incorporates elements from the Vision Pro, focusing on improving comfort. One notable feature is the introduction of a Folding Design, where the right headband folds, automatically putting the headphones to sleep. This innovative functionality adds convenience and preserves battery life when not in use.

The concept also introduces a breathable cushion headband, inspired by the Vision Pro, which enhances long-term comfort during extended listening sessions. Additionally, an easy comfort adjustment dial, similar to the Vision Pro, provides users with the ability to customize the fit according to their preferences.

In terms of connectivity, the concept proposes a departure from the conventional USB-C/Lightning port in favor of a new MagSafe connector. This change would simplify charging and enhance the overall user experience.

To elevate the audio capabilities of the AirPods Max, the concept suggests the inclusion of Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness. By dynamically blending Transparency mode and Active Noise Cancellation, the headphones intelligently adjust to the user’s surroundings, creating an immersive audio experience while maintaining awareness of important conversations and ambient sounds.

Under the hood, the AirPods Max 2 would incorporate the H2 chip, which brings improvements to ANC (Active Noise Cancellation), sound quality, and battery life. Additionally, the inclusion of the U1 chip enables precise tracking of the headphones using the Find My app, allowing users to easily locate their AirPods Max if misplaced or lost.

Ortolani’s concept introduces a range of exciting features that elevate the AirPods Max experience, combining comfort, convenience, and advanced audio technologies to create a compelling vision for the next generation of these premium headphones.

In addition to the envisioned features, Parker Ortolani believes that the second-generation AirPods Max could follow the footsteps of the initial models by introducing new color options. However, this time, the designer draws inspiration from the M2 MacBook Air, suggesting color choices such as Midnight, Silver, Starlight, and Space Gray.

While Ortolani suggests a more subdued color palette for the new AirPods Max, some may argue that Apple would prioritize vibrant and “fun” colors for this product. Apple has a history of offering a range of color options for its devices, and it’s conceivable that they might explore more adventurous and eye-catching hues to cater to different consumer preferences.

Ultimately, the choice of colors for the AirPods Max’s second generation will depend on Apple’s design direction and market research, considering factors like trends, consumer demand, and the desired brand image. Whether they opt for sophisticated shades or vibrant tones, Apple’s color choices will undoubtedly contribute to the overall aesthetics and personalization options of the AirPods Max.
