Unleashing the Full Potential of Your PS5 Gaming: 10 Power-Up Techniques
|If you’re an avid PlayStation 5 gamer, it’s essential to optimize your settings to get the most out of your gaming experience. Here are some tips to get started:
- Save power on the controller battery: To extend the life of your DualSense wireless controller, set it to turn off automatically after a certain period of inactivity. To do this, go to System > Power Saving > Set Time Until Controllers Turn Off.
- Choose between performance and resolution: On the PS5, you can choose between Performance Mode and Resolution Mode. The former provides higher frame rates, while the latter delivers higher graphics quality. To select a mode, go to Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Game Presets > Performance Mode or Resolution Mode.
- Configure capture settings: You can choose the quality of screenshots and gameplay clips captured on your PS5. Go to Captures and Broadcasts > Captures and set the resolution, file type, and HDR setting for screenshots and video clips.
- Manage your notifications: Avoid distractions while gaming by customizing your notifications. Go to Settings > Notifications to adjust how long pop-up notifications appear and whether they come with sound or a preview of their contents. You can also turn off pop-up notifications altogether.
- Avoid spoilers: Protect yourself against spoilers by turning on Spoiler Warnings in Saved Data and Game/App Settings. This setting displays a warning whenever someone shares a screenshot of game activity you haven’t reached yet.
- Configure your controller: Customize your DualSense wireless controller settings to your liking. Go to Accessories > Controller (General) to adjust the vibration and trigger effect intensity, press and hold delay, controller speaker volume, and brightness of the controller indicators.
- Change who can contact you: Adjust your privacy settings in Users and Accounts > Privacy to limit the data sent to Sony, turn off tailored advertising, and more. You can also set who can find you in search results and send you friend requests.
- Enable voice commands: Use voice commands to launch games and control media playback. To enable this feature, go to Voice Command (Preview) and use the trigger phrase “Hey PlayStation.”
- Turn on Variable Refresh Rate: If your TV supports it, turn on Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) from Screen and Video > Video Output > VRR to automatically adjust the refresh rate of games for smoother performance.
- Set your preferred difficulty: Adjust the master setting for game difficulty in the PS5 menus to suit your gaming style.
