Top 3 Wonders in Nigeria
On a global scale almost everyone has heard about the Seven Wonders of the World: The Great Pyramid of Giza, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, Colossus of Rhodes, and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. There are so many unexplainable things around us from our homeland to our country at large. Although, they are not fortunate enough to make it in the list of the seven known wonders of the world as the collections are of man’s own making.
However, in places where these unexplainable are found it tends to give the lives of people within, a different definition. Making them see things from a different angle – sometimes people not from the same cultural background from where the wonders are found have the notion that those people there are being too spiritual about such wonders based on their religion. To youngsters nowadays the simply say people of those days are known for making out god from what they perceive to be very great or from people who they find it difficult to defeat in battle. Other time they simply frame a god to be behind the source.
So with all that in mind we believe most of us out there have not heard about the wonders in the most populated country and also giant of Africa, Nigeria. A land richly blessed with liquid and solid natural resources which they have been using to contribute greatly to world at large (especially that of providing over ten percent of the worldwide consumed cooking gas). The wonders are: River Ethiope, The Fallen Bible in Araya, Delta State, and The Island below Sea level without any disaster of flooding.

River Ethiope is located at Delta State has kept people puzzled of its unique source that sprang off the foot of a very big silk-cotton tree at Umuaja, a Local Government Area in Delta State, Nigeria. As the river flows through Sapele and Abraka it becomes vast enough for ships sailing to the ocean to move through. It’s said by many that the river is supposed to be the number one purest river in the world but other countries with similar pure rivers has put in more money to make theirs more attractive to tourist. However, inexperienced swimmers are lured to jump in to swim with an assumption that it is not deep because they see the ground not knowing such places can cover a ship. There are so many spiritual attachment attributed to both the source and the river which we will explain in a later post.
In 1914 a bible was said to have fallen from heaven at Araya, a community in Isoko, Delta State, Nigeria. During those days only but a few people have copies of the bible and could even read them. So the people who found this bible on a rain soaked yam but wasn’t wet at all were let with no other option other than to find someone who could read the letter found in it and maybe that would have given them a clue to the mystery behind the fallen bible. But the missionary who they sort to read and explain to them what was written in it ran with the Bible and died on his way back to his country and the bible was lost. The people later on built a monument their and ever since the place has been a ground of healing, miracles and tourist attraction to visitors.
The third is the amazing island below sea level, surrounded by rivers and the Atlantic Ocean yet no case of flood or related disaster has be recorded. And it’s called Bonny Island.
