Easy Way to Hide Your Android Apps from Anyone Else

We all need privacy. Unfortunately, the world we live in today privacy is redefined by many to mean different things especially for most people in Africa (Nigeria precisely). I have seen cases wherein a commercial bus while someone is surfing the net, the person sitting close to him would ask him/her to scroll back a little or slow down. How much more when you leave your smartphone for people like that for 2 minutes. For this reason, some developers have taken it as a point of duty to build a privacy app (that can lock other applications) and other apps that can also hide application on your Android device.

Early today before this post was written I received an Android phone on my desk and the user asked me to make some of the app icon invisible. At first, I tried to use Leo Privacy Guard. but then the icon is still showing and from the look of things he wants to use it to monitor someone else, probably his wife (since he has an automatic call recorder installed). So I had to search for other apps that will do the magic without asking me to root the device.

Finally, after testing so many apps I downloaded from Google Play Store, I was able to find PrivateMe. An app that you can disguise to appear as a calculator icon while other applications you don’t want to be visible will be hidden in it.

PrivateMe App

Now, here is it for those who will like to do same on their smartphone. Simply launch your Play Store and search for PrivateMe by TREGTECH and download it and follow the steps below:

  1. Install the application.
  2. Open the app and press the plus sign at the top right corner.
  3. Choose the app you want to hide and go back to your home screen and uninstall it.
  4. After that, you will be able to only open that app from PrivateMe.

Note: To prevent data loss of hidden apps which might be caused by accidental uninstallation you need to enable that option too.

To disguise PrivateMe you will have to:

  • Press ‘Protection for PrivateMe’.
  • Select ‘Cover PrivateMe’ from the popup screen.
  • Enter you the lock pin and reenter the pin again to confirm.
  • Now you PrivateMe app will look like a calculator on your phone.
  • When you want to access your hidden app simply type your PIN and press the equal sign (=).

Don’t forget to share if this was helpful to you.
