Loki Season 2 Teased to Explore Multiple Kang Variants

Loki season 2’s release date has yet to be announced by Marvel, but Owen Wilson recently hinted that the highly anticipated show could premiere on Disney Plus in September. The upcoming season is expected to address the cliffhangers left by the finale of the first season, which featured the death of a Kang variant and kicked off the MCU’s multiverse storyline.

While at least one Kang variant is set to appear in season 2, a new leak suggests that another variant will also make an appearance. Jonathan Majors, who is facing allegations of domestic abuse, is set to play these variants, as he had already filmed his role before the scandal broke.

Majors has lost several jobs, including upcoming movie roles and public appearances, since his arrest in March. Two of his representatives have also fired him. Other studios are reportedly waiting to see how Marvel will handle the Kang role in light of the allegations.

Majors’ future, including his role as Kang, remains uncertain as he is set to appear in court on May 8th. This situation may affect his participation in future projects, including potential roles in Avengers 5. Please note that some spoilers for the MCU may be included in this article.

If Marvel decides to part ways with Jonathan Majors due to the recent allegations, the Kang character will still be a central figure in the Multiverse Saga, and the role will have to be recast.

However, it is worth noting that Majors has already filmed his scenes for Loki season 2. One of his appearances as a Kang variant was even teased at the end of Quantumania, where Victor Timely spoke to an audience about manipulating time. During this scene, Loki and Mobius were in attendance, with Loki appearing horrified and Mobius seemingly unbothered.

The Kang version from Season 2 of Loki

The Kang action in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is actually a teaser for Loki season 2 and appears to take place at the beginning of the 20th century, suggesting that multiverse travel will continue to be a major theme in the show.

It was previously thought that Victor Timely would be the only Kang variant in Loki season 2, but a Twitter user named Marvel Updates has hinted that there may be at least one more. Mr. Gryphon may have appeared in the Council of Kangs scene in Quantumania, but the TV show will likely explore the identities of other Kang variants and their dangerous power.

A leaked plot for Loki season 2 suggested that the TVA will aim to protect the new timelines that emerged at the end of season 1. With the importance of Loki’s first season for the Multiverse Saga, it’s likely that season 2 will have equally high stakes, furthering the Kang story and potentially concluding the TV series.

It’s possible that Jonathan Majors’ Kang may not return after Loki season 2 if Marvel decides to recast the role due to recent allegations. A September release date for the show also gives Marvel enough time to introduce a new Kang variant that looks different from Majors, signaling the recasting decision. However, it’s still uncertain what Marvel will decide regarding Majors’ future in the MCU.
