Sony Announces State of Play Event Focusing on Final Fantasy 16

The gaming industry has been buzzing with activity this year, with several major game releases still to come in the coming months. One of the most anticipated games is Final Fantasy 16, a PS5 exclusive that has generated a lot of excitement among fans. To showcase the game, Sony has planned an entire State of Play live stream dedicated to Final Fantasy 16 later this week.

Sony has announced that the State of Play will be aired on Thursday, April 16th, at 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. ET. Fans can watch it live on Twitch or YouTube. According to Sony, the live stream will include more than 20 minutes of new gameplay footage, although no specifics have been revealed yet. A preview video of the game shared on Twitter suggests that there might be a summon or two during the State of Play.

The game’s official website also provides a plot synopsis that sets the stage for an epic adventure. The story takes place in Valisthea, a land where people have been drawn to the Mothercrystals for centuries. The crystals provide an abundance of aether, which powers the magicks that people rely on in their everyday lives. However, as the aether starts to diminish and the barren deadlands expand, the competition for the last remnants of the Mothercrystals’ light becomes more intense. Amidst this struggle, there are those who believe that crystals have played a significant role in mankind’s fate for far too long.

Unlike its predecessors, Final Fantasy 16 will be an action RPG that draws inspiration from popular Western fantasy franchises like Game of Thrones. Although the game’s release date is fast approaching, there are still many unknowns about the game. Fans are eagerly waiting for the State of Play event on Thursday, which may provide more details about the game’s mechanics, storyline, and characters. In any case, Final Fantasy 16 is set to launch for PS5 on June 22nd, 2023.
