Enhance Your Email Writing with Gmail’s New AI Feature for iOS and Android

Google is making strides with its Workspace Labs features, and the latest addition to Gmail is the highly anticipated Help Me Write function, according to reports from 9to5Google. Currently, this feature is exclusively available to enrolled testers of Workspace Labs. Once activated, it will automatically prompt users when they begin composing a new email.

Upon starting a message, Gmail encourages users to give the Help Me Write feature a try. However, it’s important to note that while utilizing Workspace Labs features, it is advised not to include personal, confidential, or sensitive information. Google emphasizes that these features are in their early and experimental stages, and as part of their efforts to enhance their services, human reviewers may read, annotate, and process data related to Workspace Labs interactions.

Given this context, it may be wise to exercise caution when utilizing the Help Me Write feature for tasks such as requesting a raise from your boss or preparing an important presentation message.

To initiate the process, simply enter your prompt and tap the “Create” button to commence composing your new message. Once you have everything prepared, you can utilize the “Refine” option to enhance the message further. This feature offers various possibilities such as formalizing, elaborating, shortening, drafting, or even selecting the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button for a spontaneous touch.

Upon completion, Gmail will prompt you to replace the original message with AI-generated text. If you find the output satisfactory, you’re all set to proceed with it.

According to 9to5Google, this functionality is gradually rolling out to Android and iOS users who are enrolled in the Workspace Labs program. However, it is important to note that the feature is not currently available on the Google Docs mobile apps. Therefore, individuals will need to exercise patience as they await the ability to collaborate on documents using this new capability.

Additionally, Google is actively working on Android 14, which was introduced earlier this year and received further enhancements during the Google I/O conference in May. Android users can look forward to upcoming features such as Photo Picker, Notification Flashes, Lock Screen customizations, Magic Compose, and more.
