Elder Scrolls 6: Beyond the Horizon – A Launch Date Shrouded in Mystery

It appears that the release of Elder Scrolls 6 is still a while away, as Xbox has provided a rough timeframe for the RPG game’s launch. While we eagerly anticipate the Elder Scrolls 6 release date, we can take solace in the fact that we’ll have ample time to potentially achieve 100% completion in Starfield. And if not, we can look forward to diving into Elder Scrolls 6.

These insights come from Phil Spencer, the CEO of Xbox Game Studios, who is currently involved in the Federal Trade Commission versus Microsoft court case concerning the potential acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

According to Axios reporter Stephen Totilo, during the proceedings, Spencer was questioned about the platforms on which Elder Scrolls 6 would be available. Totilo notes that Spencer seemed uncertain about whether he had previously confirmed that the game would be an exclusive for Xbox consoles.

In addition, Spencer mentioned, “It’s so far out it’s hard to understand what the platforms will even be. We’re talking about a game that’s five-plus years away.”

As many of us had anticipated, it seems that the development of Starfield is currently occupying Bethesda’s time, leaving Elder Scrolls 6 likely still in the production phase. If Elder Scrolls 6 is truly more than five years away, it would imply a potential release around 2028, which is a decade after the initial teaser. Unfortunately, there have been no substantial updates or glimpses of the fantasy game since then. It’s worth noting that despite its lack of content, the teaser has amassed an impressive 16 million views.

Considering the rising costs and extended development times of triple-A video games, Elder Scrolls 6’s potential launch would occur roughly 17 years after Skyrim. To provide some context, Oblivion was released in 2006, Morrowind in 2002, Daggerfall in 1996, and Arena in 1994.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the UK government might possess knowledge of the Elder Scrolls 6 launch window, but they have chosen not to disclose it. Additionally, the game’s setting remains unknown at this point, although there have been speculations and discussions, including insights from Totilo’s reporting.

If the anticipation for Elder Scrolls 6 feels overwhelming, rest assured that there are several exceptional open-world games, similar to Skyrim, that can keep you engrossed and entertained until 2028 or even beyond. Feel free to explore our list of recommended titles to keep yourself busy during the wait.
