Methods for watching the Microsoft 365 AI event
|Microsoft said it will be “reinventing productivity with AI” during a special “future of work with AI” event today. Microsoft is anticipated to present a demonstration of the functionality of its ChatGPT-like AI in Microsoft 365 and Office programs, including Teams, Word, and Outlook. The event will be hosted by CEO Satya Nadella and the head of Microsoft 365, Jared Spataro, and will begin at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET.
The event occurs only two days after Google introduced AI features in Gmail, Docs, and other products to compete with Microsoft, opening what appears to be a new front in their dispute over the development of productivity software.
According to information published by The Verge last month, Microsoft planned an AI event for March to demonstrate how its new ChatGPT-like AI could change its Office productivity tools.
We now anticipate seeing how this or comparable models can create emails in Outlook, produce papers in Word, take meeting notes in Microsoft Teams, and much more. Microsoft has officially acknowledged that their Bing chatbot is driven by OpenAI’s new GPT-4 model.
Deeper integration into the core Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook could make creating documents and presentations much simpler. Microsoft has already released a new generative CoPilot AI experience in Dynamics 365 and Viva Sales that uses OpenAI models to create sales emails.
Similar AI capabilities have been shown in Google Workspace, although the search engine giant is now only granting access to “trusted testers.”
The competition for AI dominance in productivity applications may easily come down to whose firm can give the finest features to the most people as Microsoft was quick to publish its AI-powered version of Bing publicly.
