Dark Souls Pro Skater: Viral Clip Takes the Gaming World by Storm, Now Available to Play
|I’ve always yearned for a spin-off game called Dark Souls Pro Skater. The recent viral clip showcasing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater merged with Dark Souls’ Firelink Shrine got me excited about the potential of combining the RPG’s interconnected world with skateboarding elements like grind rails and half pipes. Unfortunately, it seems like that clip is the closest we’ll get to that dream.
The affectionately titled Dark Souls Pro Skater clip features the beloved NPC Solaire of Astora skillfully tearing through Firelink Shrine in a mod for Tony Hawk’s Underground 2. Watching him turn the desolate realm of Lordran into the hottest nosegrind spot of 2023 is a sight to behold.
Although the mod doesn’t let you pull off a 900 over the Bed of Chaos or perform endless grinds on the Lordvessel as if it were the fountain from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4’s campus level, it’s still an impressive feat.
If we have Bloodborne Kart, why not Dark Souls Pro Skater or even Elden Ring dirt rally? I’d gladly spend my hard-earned money to wallride those frustrating Silver Knights with their bows and arrows in Anor Londo, finally getting back at them after years of ledge-based torment. And come to think of it, having a skateboard would make Blighttown a much more manageable place to navigate.
For die-hard fans of the old-school Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, the track featured in the clip, Goldfinger’s “Superman,” holds a special place in our hearts. Alongside their other hit song, “Spokesman,” it’s an absolute banger and evokes fond memories of gathering around a PlayStation 1, basking in the warm glow of a CRT screen while pulling off kickflips and varial heelflips.
If you’re eager to try out the Solaire model and Firelink Shrine level showcased in the clip, I’ve got some good news. Both are mods available for Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 on PC. So, go ahead and purchase a copy online because having Firelink Shrine and Solaire alone makes it worth every penny. Just make sure to install the THUGPro mod, which offers a plethora of community-made levels and ports from other Tony Hawk games to keep you thoroughly entertained.
Honestly, I struggle to find the right words to explain why the clip of Solaire shredding across Firelink Shrine to the tune of Goldfinger resonates with so many of us. But, as the great Todd Howard once said, “It just works.” Sometimes, we simply need something that brings a smile to our faces, and this clip does exactly that.
